Genre: Comedy | Romance
IMDB Review
Release: 29 January 2010
America has seen a number of romantic comedies with a similar theme, however, When in Rome offers something really different and unique. The story follows Beth, played by Kristen Bell, who is visiting her sister for her unexpected wedding in Rome.
Beth’s never been really lucky with guys and has never really fallen in love with someone, but at the wedding she meets Nick, played by Josh Duhamel, and there is some chemistry between them. She really thinks that Nick is probably the guy she wants but her dreams are soon shattered when she finds Nick kissing another woman while at the wedding.
This outrages her and in her anger she goes to the well-known Fountain of Love and steals a few coins that hopeful lover’s had thrown in the fountain. What happens then is something no one expects. The legend of the fountain comes true and all the guys who had thrown their coins in the fountain whose coins were picked by Beth start falling in love with her and follow her all the way back to the US.
Mark Steven Johnson who is famous for his movies Dare Devil and Ghost Rider, has directed this movie and showcased to the world that he is an expert in a number of different movie genres.
The movie has some really funny moments, especially the scenes with the love struck Romeo’s from Rome, but those scenes are very limited and don’t dominate the movie as much. The movie is perfect for someone looking for something light and funny while not being stale.
