In the movie ‘Triangle’ Christopher Smith has effectively generated a horror thriller with his deft touches. Here ocean-bound elements, attractive plot and the myth of Sisyphus have played crucial roles to produce an engaging story.
Directed and written by Christopher Smith, Triangle boasts of many treasures to enchant the viewers. It has a complex theme but creative direction has made them look simple yet exciting. Strong acting has also lifted the spirit of this movie. One of the unique characteristics of this engaging film is that it has never opened up the mystery abruptly but introduces it to the spectators step by step. The plot will remain in your mind for a long time once you watch Triangle. No matter how many times you watch this film, every time you will be able to fall in love with the story and the unique handling of the plot.
Jess is the central character of Triangle. She receives an invitation to join her bosom friends including Greg. The very mention of ‘yacht’ in the marine trip excites her. She finds a long desired opportunity to enjoy some quality time and forget her single motherhood status even for brief period.
However, she has a premonition that some unwanted event is waiting for them at the trip. Her apprehensions begin to materialize when their boat is overturned under the impact of a violent wave. The group then boards a passing luxurious ocean liner. But strangely there is nobody on the deck. Even the clock has stopped functioning! Jess’ worst fears come into existence when a masked figure starts to claim the lives of her friends one by one. She is left alone to fend for herself against the danger.
Triangle is movie of puzzles and scary atmosphere. The spectators can hear their own breath in the theater hall. This movie has scenes to hypnotize you with its elements of mystery and horror. Smith has succeeded in weaving a highly engaging plot by deftly handling the popular elements of a horror flick. Melissa George has single-handedly carried the proceeding of the plot. Pale color of the scenes adds up to the mysterious theme of Triangle.
Smith has done a commendable job by ignoring the charms of a cheap quality horror flick. On the other hand, he has invested considerable time behind the plot development of Triangle. This movie deals with three aspects: mythical, supernatural and psychological. The cast and the direction as well as the cinematography have worked in unison to deliver a quality punch.
