Watch The Proposal, rated PG-13, contains sexual content, nudity and language. The movie might not have an original idea but Sandra Bullocks’ fish-out-of-the-water situation is sure to keep you laughing throughout. Directed by Anne Fletcher, screenplay written by Pete Chiarelli, The Proposal stars Sandra Bullock as Margaret Tate and Ryan Reynolds as Andrew Paxton.
The Proposal is a roll-over-the-floor-laughing comedy of a snobbish, high-profile executive who is facing a deportation to her native Canada. With her career tuning to an end point, she proposes to marry her assistant whom she loathes. The hatred amongst the two after some horrifying fun turns into love and a happily ever after ending.
Sandra is the executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books publications. When faced with deportation to her native Canada, the quick thinking executive forces Andrew, her assistant to act like they are together. She declares she is engaged to Andrew, whom she tormented for years. Andrew agrees to take part actively in her game but has conditions of his own–he needs to be made the editor and his manuscript must be published. The two are forced to spend the weekend with Andrew’s parents when the government investigates. When their parents throw a surprise wedding party, the pair is forced to fake their way. With more time spent together, the two fall in love with each other. The genuine love for Andrew makes Margaret confess their business arrangement in front of everyone in the wedding ceremony including the immigration officer. With only 24 hours left to get back to Canada, Margaret leaves to New York to pack her stuff. However, Andrew too shows up in the office confessing his love for her and proposes her to marry him again, only without an act this time.
Margaret and Andrews animosity for one another is shown to great details with their hatred turning to love in the end. Betty White has done a phenomenal job playing the role of the Grammy and was terrifically funny. The movie has lot more laughs than what the trailers or commercials promote. It is refreshingly delivered and is a great escape from the everyday life. If it is laugh that you are seeking from a movie then, this romantic comedy, The Proposal, is a must watch.
