It has not only dealt with the glorious feats of a legendary queen but has also regenerated the sights and sounds of a historical age.
The Pagan Queen as a movie will no doubt light up the weekends. There is hardly any single moment when the audience will find the plot boring and mundane. This film has revolved around a historical plot that dated back to 8th century Bohemia. Slavic queen Libuse is the central character of The Pagan Queen. With her great leadership skill and supernatural talents she ruled the local tribes. She was instrumental behind the birth of Prague.
Libuse along with her two beautiful sisters Kazi and Teta used to rule the local tribes of her realm. Her faithful friend Amazon Vlasta was in the command of the great female warriors. The real tension of The Pagan Queen begins when outside powers attack the peaceful farming community of Libuse’s kingdom. In that condition, Libuse is forced marry her long time suitor Premysl. He becomes the king but his crowing brings in many evils. He starts to govern the country with iron fists. The peasants who used to enjoy freedom became the slaves of this new tyrant.
Darkness prevails over Bohemia. In that atmosphere of gloom, Vlasta decides to defy the new king. This great warrior and the female army wage a war against Premysl.
The Pagan Queen has depicted the complex relations between the legendary Slavic queen Libuse and her farmer lover Premysl. It is a movie of magic, love and greed. Nature has also become a major player in this historical drama. The simplicity of the general people is a major point to be noted in this film.
Direction, cinematography as well as acting have played major roles behind popularizing The Pagan Queen. Constantin Werner should earn special kudos for his deft handling of several elements to weave a magical film. Winter Ave Zoli in the role of Libuse has captured the major attention of The Pagan Queen. Other actors have also done their best to make this film a wonderful representation of creative art.
