The movie begins in a nursing room with the old man reading from a shabby notebook to an old lady. As teenagers, Noah and Allie meet in a carnival and have spend their entire summer together, intimately falling in love. This love of theirs is shattered with the disapproval of Allies parents objecting to Noah being from a poor background. Allie along with her parents moves out leaving Noah in the company of her memories. Seven years and Noah continued to write letters to Allie which never reached her. Allie in the mean time meets a smart young soldier, Lon, and is engaged to him. But when Noah’s picture appears in the paper with the house in the background, the subsided love re-surfaces. All the memories of the dream they had comes flowing by. Allies rushes to meet Noah.
Years later, as Allies falls under the spell of Alzheimer’s, bed ridden, with no memories of Noah, here sits Noah by her side, reading from his notebook, the letters he had written to her years ago.
Adapted from Nicholas Spark’s bestselling novels, Notebook is directed by Nick Cassavetes, starring Ryan Gosling as Noah and Rachel McAdams as Allie. The movie is a perfect example to tell us that marriages are indeed made in heaven.
