Killing of Caroline Byrne also popularly known as The Killing of Caroline Byrne: A Model Daughter is based on the real story of the murder of the famous Sydney model Caroline Byrne. The movie depicts Caroline’s father fighting for justice for 13 long years. The lovely model lost her life during the winter of the year 1995 and her dead body was retrieved from the celebrated foyer of Sydney Harbor.
Killing of Caroline Byrne is a movie with an aim. The audiences are provided insight into the darker sides of the city life and its horrendous consequences. Caroline’s body is shown to be stuck in a fissure at the bed of the Gap. She was at least 12 meters away from the foot of the sandstone precipice.
Everyone was shocked at the brutality of the event. The Gap had always been famous as a infamous suicide spot. But it was a mystery to the police forces of Sydney, why and how Caroline got out so far in the sea. Whether she was thrown into the sea or had she jumped off was a secret to all.
The role of the police forces was drawn very realistically. The limitations and the toned down approach of the police forces are in a way responsible for the delay of this case. The Killing of Caroline Byrne is not only the story of Caroline, rather its more the story of her father Tony Byrne whose resolution and determination to find the truth of his daughter’s death gave a satisfactory ending to the case.
The plot of the story is fascinating. Every second after Caroline’s death is a mystery. Police forces and country’s law are tested to the limits. The film is in a way an eye opener for the people. The city’s dark heart is revealed slowly and steadily. Slowly it is revealed that it was Caroline’s boyfriend was the one responsible for her untimely death.
The identification of the murderer is a winning moment for Caroline’ father. His fight for justice is one of its kinds. On one hand is the father’s bereaved heart and on the other is the active spirit who can go to any extent to find out his daughter’s murderer. The director has dealt with a sensitive plot in a wonderful manner. The film is a perfect amalgamation of love, hate, truth and happiness and assures you with a good time in the theaters. .
