Taintlight is a beautiful love story of a vampire man and human girl. The story has a simple plot where Edgar, a vampire falls in love with Stella, a human. This kind of love story is not very uncommon. If you are a horror movie enthusiast you would definitely find haunting similarities of the movie with the other movies of its genre. Previously horror meant only blood and gore. But Taintlight has provided a new dimension to the genre.
The love of Edgar and Stella is worth remembering. The two love each other madly and can go to extent to stay together. Though Edgar is a blood -sucker, but he still nurtures a loving heart. His commitment and love towards Stella is praiseworthy. Stella is a brave woman as well. Knowing the difficulties, which may come in her way for loving Edgar, Stella continued loving him all along.
The simple plot of Edgars love story gets its first twist when Jack, the werewolf appears in their life. Jack is head- over-heels in love with Stella. He hates Edgar because he is Stella’s love. He is after his life and wants to kill him so that Stella accepts his love. The scene where he proposes Stella is one of the most haunting scenes of the movie.
Though Taintlight is not having much gore and blood but still it has a bloodcurdling effect on the audience at times. The shrieks and noises of the place where the vampires stay are quite scary. The character of Razor is terrifying. Every time he appears onscreen, viewers will surely feel scared.
The best thing about Taintlight is that horror is never exaggerated in the entire movie. The audiences don’t need to tolerate blood and cruelty throughout the film. Horror is brought out in a milder and subtler tone. The very motive of Razor and Jack was horrifying. Jack wanted to possess Stella while Razor wanted to drink her blood.
Both Edgar and Stella are found to fight against the evil in order to save their love and lives. Their togetherness and care for each other will remind you of the classic romances. They were so committed to each other that even the evil began to feel for them at times.
The Director has been very careful in handling the development of characters. Stella’s love for Edgar increases with the progression of the plot. The film turns out to be more romantic than scary.
