Nowadays, scary and horror films have become parts of movie production. While some of they contain marks of originality, some others take ideas from their predecessors. Paranormal Activity is one of them. It has used a video camera as the source of terror much like blockbuster movie ‘The Blair Witch Project’. Directed, written and produced by Oren Peli, the latest sensation in horror genre is however is a low budget film. Its budget is a modest $11,000! Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat and Mark Friedrichs are the main casts of this movie.

The film contains a simple but enthralling plot. The story revolves around a married couple. Micah (Micah Sloat) is a day trader. Katie (Katie Featherston) is a housewife who has the aim to become a schoolteacher. Her past is marked with supernatural episodes. But the supernatural influences grew with time. Micah decided to purchase a video camera to find out the secret. The horror creeps into the plot through this video camera. A married couple takes video images of their house in the midst of the night. The unnatural camera work, murky and mysterious footage, as well as shaking home appliances add up to the thrill of the story. Many spine-chilling experiences follow soon.

The filmmaker has successfully transformed daily common articles into symbols of horrors. Yawning shadows, deep moans, unseen shadows, shivering lamps and other horror sequences will compel a spectator to stick to his/her seat till the end of the movie. The director with his small budget has produced an excellent piece of horror art. Psychological aspects also play major roles in this movie.

The free flowing acting of the casts has enhanced the appeal of the movie. Micah performs very well he acts very well, when he seems possessed unnatural spirit and talks under the influence of an unseen spirit.  Mark Frederichs excellently plays the part of the psychiatrist and helps the couple.

Truly Paranormal Activity has deftly delivered its lethal power with a simple theme. Direct handling of the horror story has enabled it to get the desired result. There are lots of high budget craps coming out from the production houses. Paranormal Activity clearly stands out from them. If you are the person, who has strong mental strength, then watch this movie to test it.
