Midgets vs. Mascots is a movie, which has handled the elements of a comedy flick superbly. The main story begins with the demise of a Texas based super rich person Big Red. His will has some unique points about the distribution of his wealth and property.
Big Red was short in stature and had special fascination for the group of little persons. Moreover, he also loved mascots. He created a niche in the film world as well as in the society with his production for pornographic films. Here also he had special likeness for actors with short heights.
Big Red conceptualized a game show to be played between a team consisting of five midgets and another team of five mascots. His will contains all the instructions about the game show. According to the will, $5 million bucks is fixed as the prize money of the winning team. Little Richard, one of the sons of Big Red is chosen as the coach of the little people, while Bonnie becomes the guide of the mascot team.
Auditions take place to select the final contestants. The mascots who are being selected comprise a cowboy sheriff, a Spartan, a person in alligator garb, a rabbit as well as a taco. These characters hardly take off their unique garments even during their general interactions. The midget team comprises a gay, a kleptomaniac, a bisexual man, a blonde girl and Coleman.
The game show involves many unique episodes including bull riding as well as irritating strangers at bars. The finely crafted game show will never make the audience to feel that they are watching a movie. Often the rival contestants indulge in fighting with each other. That enhances the humor of Midgets Vs. Mascots. One of the funniest scenes of the game show happens when monstrous taco wrestles with a small person.
Midgets Vs. Mascots is no doubt a funny movie but has never indulged in the cheap quality mindless comedy. The game show takes place at a real restaurant. This has enhanced the essence of authenticity in the film. Director Ron Carlson has effectively utilized simple yet unique elements of a comedy flick but he has delivered a powerful punch with them.
Acting is another element of this movie to enhance the beauty of the plot. Gary Coleman as Gary and Jordan Prentice as Jordan delivered their best to lift up the spirit of Midgets Vs. Mascots. The scenes and the characters of the film will never give a hint about the next happenings. This has helped it to maintain an atmosphere of suspense.
The sarcastic comments of Coleman ensure a major push for the smooth flow of the plot. This movie no doubt will seem to be crude at places but ultimately boisterous fun prevails over all.
