Hachiko: A Dog Story is story of unconditional loyalty, devotion and love. Starring Joan Allen, Richard Gere and Sarag Roemer, this movie is a touching story of the dog’s love for his master. The movies plot centers on life of a dog and a professor. It is a heart-wrenching tale of the master and his dog.

This film is an adaptation of a real story of the dog Hachiko and his master. He is a dog of Akita breed that was picked by Professor Ueno in 1924. At every morning, the dog used to see him off to the station and greet him to the house in evenings. Hachiko stayed with his master for a year when Ueno died of sudden heart attack and never came back to home.

The story is an unbelievable one. If you are not a dog lover, you will start loving dog once you finish watching this movie. Hachiko although was given to others but he managed to escape from the masters and simply waited for his master at his old place. All the daily passer bys were simply amazed to watch him wait for nine years. People were very much touched by the emotion and devotion of the dog and they erected the bronze statute of Hachiko.

Gere has simply been outstanding in his role as professor. The dog has been brilliant as well. The actor himself was quite enthusiastic about the movie’s plot. He was amazed to know about the dog after he heard the story. Lasse Hallstrom the director gave an extremely humane and sensitive touch to dog-man relationship. Hats off to director and actors who played their roles efficiently in keeping sync with the role of the dog.

The director aims at the hearts of the audiences. Tears will roll down your cheeks at the movie’s end. It’s a wonderful story and it’s sure to touch your hearts. His wait for his master and desperation to get back to him will make you feel for the creature. It’s a great movie to watch. Hachiko is a promising dog. It is true that dog is man’s best pal.

Hachiko has touched lives of many people who are daily passer-bys of the station in Japan. He has been able to teach people about compassion, love and loyalty. Bronze statue of the dog is erected outside Shibuya station at Japan. While watching out this movie, you will sometimes come across scenes through the eyes of Hachi as opposed to the eyes of human, which will help to relate you to him and realize what actually he felt and all about his thoughts. It’s a must watch film.
