Horror has always been an aspect of immense interest to the humanity. Whether its vampires or ghosts, films related to mysticism and supernatural have always attracted audiences across the globe. Starring Ethan Hawke, William Dafoe, Michael Dorman, and Claudia Karvan, “Daybreakers” is a wonderful amalgamation of science and mysticism. Intelligent direction and casting have contributed greatly to the success of the movie. Horror movie enthusiasts are eagerly looking forward to the release of this spooky movie in 2010.

Written and directed by the Speirig brothers, the entire movie is shot in the exotic locations of Australia. The movie has already been premiered at the 34th Annual Toronto International film Festival. Daybreakers attracted decent reviews and were very much successful in sustaining the interest of the viewers at the Toronto film fest. The movie is slated to be released in January 2010, “Daybreakers” might well be considered as one of the most profitable Hollywood releases of the coming year.

Studded with actors of international repute like Ethan Hawke and Sam Neill, Daybreakers is a thoroughly exciting movie. The film takes the viewers in the future, somewhere in 2019 when our beautiful world is found struck with a terrible plague, which turns human beings into vampires. Two sections are found involved in this gory affair. One group tries to save the human race from the clutches of the vampires whilst the other wants to finish off the human race for their own existence. As per the words of one of the actors, the movie is in reality an allegory of the situation we are facing in our daily lives. The Speirigs have focussed on this turmoil between the two sects and conceptualized it as the main plot of the movie.

Various subplots are also weaved into the fringes of the main plot, which gives an excellent finish to the movie. Peter and Michael Speirig have been very meticulous about their direction and concept this time. “Daybreakers” is very much unlike of their previous venture “Undead”. Audiences and critics both have applauded the director duo for their fantastic work.

Ethan Hawke is the protagonist and Willem Dafoe is the primary antagonist, who is also a cured vampire and is willing to save the human race from its impending doom. Both the actors are brilliant in their respective roles and give a new dimension to this sci- fi horror flick. Daybreaker is full of fun, thrill and horror. The brilliant ending combined with an alluring background score makes Daybreakers a solid matinee watch.
