Couples Retreat (2009) is one such film in the garb of comedy. It has a message for couples in real life. Directed by Peter Billingsley, Couples Retreat delivers a highly enthralling performance.

The entire plot of the film gives a sense of vacation. Scriptwriters Dana Fox, Jon Favreau, and Vince Vaughn have conceptualized a harmless yet engaging theme in Couples Retreat. The relationship of a couple Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kristen Bell) is about to break down. To mend the cracks, they decide to avail a costly spa service at an exotic beach resort. They invite their pals Dave (Vince Vaughn), Ronnie (Malin Akerman), Joey (Jon Favreau), Lucy (Kristen Davis) and Shane (Faizon Love) in order to avail the group scheme and save price. On reaching the resort, they discover that every couple has to take the spa service in order to enjoy the amenities of the resort. The friends of Jason and Cynthia reluctantly accept the terms and encounter several humorous situations. The partners discover each other’s faults. At last the movie ends on a happy note. The damaged bonds regain their full charms. Moreover, Shane decides to reunite with his estranged wife.

Couples Retreat promises to attract the audience with its scenic landscapes, some down to earth acting, absurd situations and well knit plot. The beaches of Tahiti will greet the audience with serene atmosphere. The climax romantic scene by the side of an enchanting waterfall adds ice on the cake. In the modern movie world of gory plots, Couples Retreat is indeed a refreshing movie. Moreover, the movie has peeped into the problematic relations of real couples. The actors are seemed to be our next-door neighbors. There lays the director’s credit in selecting them. Moreover, their acting skills are very apt for the plot.
