Angels and Demons, an illustration of Dan Browns best-seller of 2000 is a complete suspense filled flick. The story revolves around a Professor and symbologist at the Harvard University, uncovering the mysteries of a secret society, Illuminati.

Watch Angels and Demons that brings out the character of Robert Langdon, a professor of religious iconology and arts at the Harvard University. In the middle of the night, Langdon is awakened by the director of CERN, Maximilian Kohler, the world’s largest scientific research facility in Geneva. A top physic has been murdered with the word “Illuminati” on his chest. Expert in ancient secret society known as Illuminati, Langdon is asked to help solve the mystery.

The murdered victim is Leonardo Vetra. Apart from being a top physicist, he is also a catholic priest, who adopted Victoria, a scientist at CERN. Leonardo was creating the antimatter to simulate the Big Bang. In his mind, this would prove God exists and will be able to create a new matter and antimatter in the same way God created the universe. With the murder reveals one of the canisters to be stolen. The canister is soon found in the Vatican City with the help of a security camera. However, the canisters whereabouts are left a mystery with the missing camera. Langdon and Victoria are sent to Rome and Vatican City to hunt the canister and return it to CERN before it explodes at midnight.

Langdon and Victoria race against time, digging through archives and ancient mysteries to find clues, which require extensive background in art history and religion symbology. Langdon understands enough of each mystery and joins the pieces of the puzzle, each leading to the next one. Victoria is smart, intelligent and tough and is determined to avenge her father’s murder and keep Vatican City from exploding. However, the two of them always find themselves one step behind the Illuminati. They don’t know whom to trust when they realize that the Swiss Guard and Vatican City have been penetrated by the ancient society. They go through Churches, fountains, crypts, forgotten passages, secret passages and catacombs with death stalking them at each turn.

The movie throws the conflict between science and religion, particularly the Illuminati and the Roman Catholic Church. ‘Angels and Demons’ also shares many stylistic elements with its sequel, Da Vinci Code, like conspiracies of the secret society, a one-day time frame and the Catholic Church. One needs some quantity of Ancient history, architecture and symbolism to understand and appreciate the movie.

Directed by Ron Haward, ‘Angels and Demons’ stars Tom Hanks and Ayelet Zurer as the main characters. Both the actors have done a fantastic job. A few audiences did find the movie a bit slow and difficult to understand. However, many did enjoy seeing the work of Dan Brown on the large screen.
