IMDB Review
Release: 24 April 1992

A Midnight Clear is released in the year 1992 and is regarded as one of the best war films of the era. Directed by the famous Keith Gordon, the film is set during a period when the Second World War is coming to an end. Starring Kevin Dillon, Peter Berg, Ethan Hawke, Arye Gross, Curt Lowens, David Jensen, Garry Sinise and Larry Joshua, A Midnight Clear is a film, which will touch the core of your hearts.

The plot of the film is very touchy. The year is 1944 and the American Intelligence Departments finds out a German Platoon who wishes to surrender rather than fighting the offensive war. The film shows how the soldiers of two groups spends time together happily and celebrate Christmas in a special way till the surrender plan is dissolved. The plot is very touchy as the emotions of the soldiers are unraveled with the eventual progress of the plot.

Viewers consider it as one of the greatest war movies ever made. The film is all bout friendship, irony, humanity and war. The film is very well made and creates an impact in the mind of the viewers for a long time. The film has a fresh approach to war. The film basically revolves round the lives of GI officers belonging to two different camps. One day when the American GIs were scouting on the territory of the Germans, in spite of being spotted by the enemy they were not shot. This led the Americans left to ponder about the fact they may be willing to surrender or make a truce with them.

The plot develops slowly. The first scene is wonderful. Gary Sinise is found crying over his dying child and other American GIs are trying to console him. The viewers may not understand the situation very well. But as the plot progresses they come to know that the enemy soldiers with whom the American GI officers have spent their Christmas happily are to blamed for the devastation.

The touchiest part of the movie is when the two camps of soldiers are forcibly pitted against each other. Both the parties were unwilling but they had to fight for the sake of their nations. The director had handled the plot in a delicate manner. There was no exaggeration or over indulgence. The film moved on with a normal pace. The film is a collector’s item. From direction to acting, every aspect of the film is worth remembering.
