Classic novels are a common theme of movies. Their storyline and portrayal of characters enthrall the readers. When. These wonderful pieces of literature transform into visual pleasures then they become more exciting. A Christmas Carol (2009) is a movie based on Charles Dickens’ masterpiece of the same name.
The story of A Christmas Carol deals with the experience of a famous miser Ebenezer Scrooge. He holds contempt for anything cheerful. He continues to plunge in the deep and dark holes of miserly acts. He gathers money even from dead bodies! On the eve of Christmas night, the ghosts of Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present and Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come appear before him and carry him on a journey to open his eyes to his own sins. Scrooge realizes that he must purge his acts before it is too late.
Jim Carrey is a genius of surprises and the entire length of A Christmas Carole is an excellent representation of his talent. Director Robert Zemeckis has managed to derive the best out of the talented actor. Dickens stories will always enjoy significance for all ages to come. Excellent direction has managed to portray the kaleidoscopic colors and essences of his literary masterpiece. Zemeckis has acted like a magician in the movie, who has excellently utilized his magic wand to knit together the various elements of A Christmas Carol. Moreover, state-of-the-art 3D technology has enhanced the appeal of this Christmas film.
A Christmas Carol has created a mark with its entertaining story and superb animation. It is no doubt a favorite among children. But the acting and direction as well as the cinematography will bring it closer to the hearts of adults. The dialogues are simply excellent. Director Robert Zemeckis has showed his talent, as a scriptwriter in A Christmas Carol. Here 3D technology has not acted as an impediment to acting but has complimented it. It is such types of movies, which attract all kinds of audience, irrespective of age or sex to its world of grandeur.
Robert Zemeckis has not indulged in too much experimentation with Dickens’ original novel. He has remained loyal to the basic essence of the grand novel. This has enriched the appeal of the movie. This movie has a garb of fantasy theme, but deep inside it has a poignant humane tale to tell. Classic novels are beautiful in their own looks. Painting its teaching with artificial colors spoils their appeal. A Christmas carol is a story of human aspects like self-centered mentality, greed, awareness, and atonement. The efforts of modern day artists have made turn this classic novel into a fabulous classic movie.
